I hate being sick. Yesterday I still felt fine (well, besides randomly feeling like bursting into tears) but now I’ve got this really annoying cough that won’t stop unless I continuously drink hot tea. Which means that I gotta go to the bathroom once an hour. rolls eyes At least my eyes have stopped watering now. It’s weird, sometimes I can’t tell the difference if my eyes are just watering because I’m sick or if I’m actually crying. o.O

Anywayz, met Auri and Wind yesterday. Walked around with them and talked. It’s been ages since I’ve been out with friends. I think the highlight of our time together (for me anyway) was when we had lunch and just sat there catching up with stuff. Then there came the episode at the train station. Wind had already left, so Auri and I sat at the station waiting for our trains. Then all of a sudden I burst into tears. Right there, in the middle of the station. One of the very few things that I like about Finland is that no one really notices if someone’s crying. At least I didn’t get the feeling that I was being stared at. Same thing on the train. Even if someone had asked what was wrong, I couldn’t have explained it to them. Well, I missed the train I was supposed to take, but luckily there was another one 6 minutes later which meant that I’d have to run to get to work on time. I did make it though. I was actually 2 minutes early. Not that it mattered much since I still had to wait 10 minutes to get the keys to the locker room. The thing that struck me while on my way there from the train station was that when I had to stop at the lights to cross the road, this late 20s early 30s Middle Eastern guy begins hitting on me (in Finnish).

Him: Are you listening to music? Me: What? takes head phones off Him: Are you listening to music? Me: Yeah. puts headphones back on Him: Where are you going? Me: takes headphones off Work. Him: Aah. Late shift? Me: Yeah. Him: Until when? Me: Nine. Him: What are you doing afterwards? Me: Going home. o.O Him: Noo.. let’s go bowling! Me: Can’t. Got work tomorrow morning. Him: Where? Me: At a hotel. starts crossing the road practically running

That was really weird. Especially since I could feel that my eyelids were swollen from crying and I assumed that my eyes were red. Possibly the weak lighting made my eyes look normal.. Then at work I got a txt msg from Auri which I read during my break inviting me to stay over at her place for a week. Again, made me want to cry. I really need to sleep more. I can’t afford to randomly begin to cry, especially at work. At least tomorrow I don’t come in before noon. :) And I have a Sunday shift! w00t! Which means that I get 130€ for 7 hrs of work. Plus the 10% holiday pay or whatever it is. Fun fun. ^_^

Well, I’d better get back to work..

Well, I’ve finished what Jari gave me to do and he’s gone somewhere, so now I’m just waiting for him to get back..

This morning it snowed so much that I could barely see where I was going. Which meant that the train I was supposed to catch was cancelled due to “technical problems”. Too much snow on the tracks I assume. So I took the InterCity train from Tampere which made an exception and stopped at Järvenpää to pick up the ones that were supposed to go on the 8:20 R train. Didn’t have to pay for that trip, so I’ve saved 4,80 €. grin I was late for work though. Not that it really mattered much since I couldn’t start work before Jari got here and he came in 10 minutes later than I did. The snow is very pretty though. And there’s lots of it too. ^_^ I wonder when can I go ice skating.. need to find my skates first..

My throat was so sore this morning.. could barely say a word. Now it’s better though. Been drinking loads of tea. At least tomorrow I won’t have to do much talking during inventory.. While I was walking to work I kept receiving messages from Extra saying that they’ve got loads of shifts available for today. One was at Malmintori and I would’ve taken it if I wouldn’t have work at Accome today. Tomorrow I’m at Tikkurila for 5 hrs (I think it’s my fave place to be a kassa).. then Wednesday it’s back to Accome for work. Tomorrow I’ll be here at Accome again for 3 hrs but not working, just filling out university applications. I’ve decided on at least 5 universities.

Next Monday is Independence Day. Possibly going to a party and seeing my distant relatives.. Not that excited about it. It’s not like I know them. Although according to my mom my second cousin Teemu and I were close when we were in day care together when we were like 3 or something. o.O Now he’s in a band that’s been on TV or something like that.. Oh well, it shouldn’t be too bad.

Okies, I should get back to work.. now it’s time to compare the reskontra to the invoices.. funfun. -_-

Cold outside.. -8C. Froze my ass off this morning walking to work. Well, not really but my thighs were freezing. As were my ears. Good thing I’ve found my thicker jacket. Personally I think it makes me look like a blob, but if it keeps me warm I won’t complain.

yawns So tired, so tired.. Been at work since 9 a.m. More invoice and booking list comparing. Funfun. At least I’m here only until 4. Then from 5 to 9 I’ve got cashier work in Tikkurila.. Yayness. ^_^

Whoa.. that’d mean I’ve been at work for 12 hrs.. And that I can’t meet up with Krisi today as planned. ;_; At least Auri was kind enough to send Krisi a txt msg for me telling her about my other job later tonight. I really should buy some credit for my phone..

Now, I’ve gotta find Jari and negotiate my pay back up to 10€/hr.. for some weird reason it dropped to 8€/hr yesterday and I wasn’t informed about it. This invoicing stuff isn’t that easy and I gotta stay alert the whole time. So I think I deserve at least 10€/hr.. I’d like more, but I musn’t be greedy.. Besides, the cashier work is way easier and I’m getting paid over 8€/hr for that!

Well, I’m back at work again. At Accome for today. I’ll call Extra later tonight to see what shifts they have available this weekend. Judging from the amount of msgs I got last night after I had landed, they need help. 6 messages one after the other practically begging me to come to work. It feels nice to be needed. Then my mom called me and told me that both my uncle and Jari needed me urgently to do work for them. So right now I’m helping Jari. Checking invoices with his Swedish partner Micke. Nice accent. :) It’s simple enough work. He tells me the name of the client, the dates which they occupied a room, the room number and the price and I check that they’re the same in the booking list. We’ve found loads of mistakes already. One person wasn’t even on the list! And the first 1½ hrs I didn’t do anything because I was waiting for Micke to arrive. I just read a newspaper. It had this really funny article that was written in 1952 (I think) about how Thanksgiving is explained to the French. If I can’t take the paper with me, then I’ll at least photocopy that article. Worth saving. And the original is worth $80,000! This one lady bought it for $10 at a garage sale. Talk about a steal. ^_^

What I really need is a new diary. My old one’s running out. Only a few more pages left. sniffle And since I can’t get online as often as I’d like, I can’t really use this one as my regular diary either. I miss the laptop with its broadband Internet connection… I think I actually prefer laptops to regular PCs. They’re smaller, easier to use for some reason and I can take it with me where-ever I go..

Hmm.. only five more minutes left of my break. Unless of course Micke decides he’s gonna take a 45 minute lunch break. Not that I mind. More time for me to surf the Net. ^_^

I got everything packed. Yay me. Now it’s just the question of whether it goes over the weight limit or not..

Oh well. I dunno how much more pizza I can eat. He’s taking me to Pizza Hut again. At least yesterday and the day before it was KFC. And on Sunday we’re going to Anji’s. Real food for a change. drool It’s the only thing I miss about Finland. Eating real food, not the greasy stuff Gubby eats..

Urgh. I wonder how I’ll survive at work when I get back. I really hope I haven’t forgotten how to use the machine. Or give back too much change.

Well, he’ll be back any minute now. Two hours of dancing and then it’s to eat more pizza… ^_^;;
