Eh.. just fell over on the way over here. o_O It was on the stairs. Luckily no one saw me. I blame my shoes. I decided to try wearing the pink-ish heels that I bought from Tallinn during the summer. One heel got stuck on the hem of my jeans and voila.. there I was, sitting stupidly on the steps just outside of the Cwrt Mawr Communal Block. >_< So now, my right hand hurts. Fun..

Anwayz.. haven’t done that much today. A load of laundry is now drying on my new drying rack. ^-^ Erm.. took out the trash since one else in the flat was willing to. It had been sitting there for a few days and I just couldn’t take the smell of it anymore. I have a feeling that I’m the one that cleans up in the kitchen the most. Sure Lewis usually takes out the trash and the others sporadically decide to wash everyone’s dirty dishes. But that’s about it. I wind up being the one scrubbing the stove (because I will not use a dirty one) and vacuuming the place every week. I don’t really mind the vacuuming since I like doing that.. it’s just that the state of the stove irks me. And it’s usually one of the guys that messes it up too! No idea what they’re cooking… Well, I won’t be here for the inspection (or the major clean up for it).. They can’t complain about it though. They’d better not.

We finally have a house! We can move in on the 21st. Yay! / And I won’t have to do any of the moving in either. Lucky me. Well, I don’t think they’ll unpack my boxes for me, but they’ll at least bring them all into my room and put together my bed. And I can have the piano in my room. ^__^

I know I keep yo-yoing with the idea of going to the States next on an exchange program, but this time I really think I have decided what I’m gonna do. I’m going to University of Georgia for one semester (they won’t let me stay a whole year) and it’ll be the fall semester. Just for the simple reason that it’s football season during the fall. And I definitely want to be there then. Plus the weather’ll prolly be a whole lot better over there then it is over here. Gets dark before 5.. me no like-y. Reminds me too much of Finland. Plus, I can refine my accent while I’m in Georgia. Make it more Southern. I like that accent a lot. Don’t mind at all if people think I’m from the States. I love their expressions when they realize that I’m not. XD And Thanksgiving over at my sister’s!

Okay, so I know I promised myself that I’d really watch what I was spending my money on, but there was a sale that I couldn’t resist! 20% off everything at B-Wise plus the 10% discount I got for having a valid NUS card. 30% off!! *grin* So I bought four shirts (purple, pink, orange and brown) and a pair of stretchy jogging pants. And all just £21,70. Basically £4 each.. *happy happy* The pink shirt is a really deep pink, more like magenta actually. Anyway, it’s a stretchy skin tight shirt with 3/4 sleeves. The lavender one has a nice large rounded collar (again 3/4 sleeves). The chocolate brown one has this white shirt peeking out from underneath it, but in reality there’s nothing there. It’s got good proper (as in long) sleeves. The melon colored one has stuff written on it in French and nice small printed designs on it in grey and white. Can’t wait to wear them. ^-^ And I found a clothes dryer rack thingy. Went to Charlie’s.. finally found that place. So now I finally can properly dry my clothes in my room. XD Retail therapy’s goooooood… Need new sneaks though. The shoes I have now are starting to smell. >_< ;;

I love Aberystwyth. Seriously. The seaside.. just lovely. I went down there today to check out a few things if I’ve got them correct in my story. I usually just stay on the North Beach cause it’s closer to all the shops, but today I wandered over to the South Beach.. Lovely, lovely. Really windy, but great all the same. Then I wandered around the castle ruins for a bit. It really is a shame that they let it crumble down like that 7 centuries ago.. And I’ve decided that I’m gonna have my character jump off one of the ruins instead of the pier (because the pier isn’t accessible to everyone and I need it to be). Oh, and one thing that I discovered while on this little excursion: I can finally zip up my brown leather jacket. It’s a size M and when I first got it I couldn’t zip it up because of the really tiny waist, but now I can. ^-^ Another good thing about uni life. Lose weight even when it’s not intentional. XP

All the girls in my flat left today to go home or somewhere for the weekend. So it’s just me and the fellas for the next two nights. And since Niamh isn’t coming back for 10 days, it’ll be a lot quieter around there as well. I supposed I’ll enjoy it the first few days, but it’ll be kinda strange not having her singing/humming loudly in her room or the kitchen.. Seems like almost everyone took the 1:30 train today. Jonathan (a guy from my French class), the three girls.. Could be because it’s reading week for most departments next week. But not for me. :( But at least I’ll get Friday off completely because there isn’t a French class. ^-^

Wow.. so windy outside! Earlier it was really pouring and now it’s just plain windy. I wonder what gale winds are like.. I mean, to me these winds right now are pretty strong but they’re not gale force winds. And even though it’s pretty dark outside (basically pitch black with a few street lamps giving off an orange-y glow) I like it over here. Winds, rain and all. I dunno. I think the weather’s a really big part of it. I love this type of weather. Which means that in the future I need to live next to the sea.

Nice dark nails. Decided that today I’m finally going to paint my nails and I chose “Redcurrant Jelly”. I feel like me again. It’s been so weird going for a whole year without dark nail polish. All I had with me were these really light colors. So while I was in Belgium I bought two Maybeline polishes: Redcurrant Jelly and Baby Doll. ^_^

For some strange reason none of the plugs in the kitchen work. Yesterday they were fine but today.. nada. Really weird. I’m gonna go tell the ppl at the reception about it if someone already hasn’t. I don’t get any tea without working plugs in the kitchen.. ;_; I wonder if the stove’s affected as well..

Well, my personal tutor just got back to me about the US Exchange Program. If I want to go on an exchange then it’ll have to be to a uni on their list. And it’s only for a semester. So the next thing I need to think about is do I still want to go, which one and which semester.. Probably the first semester because it’d be football season over there during that time. ^-^

I should be getting my own comp in two weeks! o/ And this time I know I’m getting it because I’ll actually go into a store and buy it. XD Sims 2 awaits!

Urgh.. we’re starting The Rape of the Lock today.. so not looking forward to writing the essay about it. The Wordsworth essay doesn’t sound that appealing either. And before either of those are due I’ve got to hand in a portfolio. Which is over half way done. Still need to write the bibliography and about 800 more words to my story. The commentary bit is done. ^-^

The Union seems to be in ghoulish spirits tonight. They’re showing “The Amityville Horror” for free if you’ve got an NUS card. I watched the first 30 mins of it and decided that was enough. I couldn’t make myself watch any more of it. Not because it was a bad movie, it just brought up too many things that I just don’t feel like thinking about when I go to sleep. Alone. *shudders* I mean, it’s not very cheerful to be thinking about how a guy murders his whole family right when you’re going to bed now is it? Especially when I know so much about the actual murders (did a presentation on it two years ago.. not the happiest of subjects but.. well, that’s what the teacher wanted and I aced it so I’m not complaining).

Onto cheerier things. Handed in my essay this morning, found out that next week I won’t be having any French lessons so I can go over to Rotherham to buy a comp that Thursday. Apparently in Aber there aren’t that many good comp stores so I’ll just wait to go to Meadowhall.. Dad called today. No comp for me yet, so that’s why I’m getting it from Rotherham.. most likely. Not totally sure yet. Anyhoo.. Jade’s sick. The flu. :(

There are ppl (as in other students) dressed up and trick-or-treating.. pretty worthless trying the dorms since we’re students. We’re broke. We don’t share the little candy that we do have.. o.O

Yeah. I’m tired. But I wanna work on my creative writing assignment. Need over 500 words to submit for a reading slot. Guess I should go spy on ppl some more. He liked the way I emphasized the imperative words of the airline rehearsed speech I “recorded”.. ^-^ Hmm.. I’ve already got over 1,000 words for my portfolio and the story hasn’t even begun yet! But JC (teach) said that I can submit the rest of the story in the second portfolio. So iz all guuuuuuud..

Okay, stopping rambling here. Going to work on combining mimesis and diegesis. *nods*

I have no idea why, but the last two mornings I’ve woken up because I was crying. Not just tears flowing down my cheeks, but the really violent crying that makes me double-over and shake.. It’s so strange. And I have no idea what I had been dreaming about that made me cry. It’s like when I wake up, totally confused. No idea what’s going on. Really strange..

Well, not much else has happened. Been researching and writing my essay. Have about 650 words now. Going down into town today.. actually I should get going now. Need to eat and look for that drying thingy before I go over to the Old College to sign up as backstage crew.. possibly audition for a minor role if the play interests me. There’s no need to prepare anything so I could do it just on a whim. Speaking of that, I guess I should first find out what it’s about. ^^;;

Okay so 10 a.m. isn’t that early, but still. I woke up at 8! Lay in bed for about 45 minutes before I finally decided to drag myself out of it. *yawn* See.. this is why it isn’t good to get up early. Especially when you’ve stayed up 2 hrs past your usual bedtime to talk on the phone.. The phone convo lasted only 30 minutes (I think).. the rest of the time I was doing logic puzzles. o/ At least I did start my essay. I have about 250 words now. No idea if it’s any good, but starting is always a good idea. I’m gonna type up what I have right after I post this..

That seems to be about it for now. . Nothing that special happened yesterday. Met Lewis’ and Owen’s sisters. Met Scott.. Apparently he hangs out at our place a lot. And I know one of his housemates from Writer’s Art 1.

Decided to wear my new tights today. Black, white and grey stripes. I know I look a bit mis-matched with those tights, my trainers, light green skirt and pink leather coat but what do I care? XD I’m comfy and that’s the main thing.

Okay, I got back yesterday.. Really tired all day because I had to get up at like 3:30 (UK time that is.. which is what I live on nowadays). Was up for about 18 hours.. x_x;; Anyway, happy to be back. Not much work to catch up on since I did manage to do some on the plane rides. I had no idea that all the flights were less than an hour.. caught me by surprise there. But still.. talked to interesting ppl on the way to Brussels, slept mostly on the way back. And I was lucky enough to have a good night’s sleep last night. About 12 hrs.. ^-^

Erm.. haven’t done much today. Vacuumed, washed the kitchen floor, did laundry, made tea twice.. ^-^ Haven’t had tea for ages. But now that I’ve got my own mug and stuff I can tea again! o/ My new mug, spoon and bowl are all yellow. It’s a nice Easter-y kind of yellow. A bit darker than the yellow usually associated with baby yellow.. Oh, here’s a weird thing. None of my shirts can be tumble dried. Why is that? It’s so weird that I can’t throw them into a dryer. Although, three of the four dries in the Rosser block are broken so it doesn’t make that much of a difference. Still means that I need to go buy one of those vertical drying rack thingies. Caroline said that B-Wise and Woolworths’ might have them. So I’m going there on Tuesday. Should really be worth the money. Easier to dry clothes on them instead of hanging them from my closet doors etc.

Dr. Faustus is driving me nuts. I can’t find that many stylistic or thematic differences. And I’m stressing about the essay. Due next Monday. Thank God not tomorrow. At least we’ll be talking about it in the next seminar. So I should have the whole weekend to work on it.

I’ve heard that there’s a new kind of keyboard available. It doesn’t have any markings on it at all and it’s being marketed as the keyboard for the super-geeks or something. The ones that don’t really look at the board when they type. It’d be interesting to try one out. I don’t really look at the board anymore when I type, but sometimes when it’s a new board I have to look down. Like when I use a French keyboard. They’re really annoying. At least with the British and American keyboards all the letters are in the same places, it’s the punctuation that moves around. But in the AZERTY keyboards, practically everything’s been switched! Like the numbers, you gotta press the shift button to get to them. So annoying..

I’m going to Brussels tomorrow.. o_O Found out last night that I’m going this week. I wasn’t expecting to go until like next week. But this week it is. So I’m taking the 7:30 train to Birmingham Intl (changing at BNS), and my flight leaves for Amsterdam at 3 p.m. Apparently there’s a 2 hr stop over at Amsterdam so I need something to read or do.. probably gonna buy another puzzle book.. I like puzzles. ^-^ I’m coming back on Saturday (flight leaves at 6:30 a.m. -_-;;) so I should have enough time to get some work done then as well.. I’ve already informed all of my teachers that I can’t be in class/hand in assignments that are due on Friday. They seem fine with it. So all’s good there..

I think Niamh and Lewis do have something going on between them even if they don’t admit it. Like today, Oliver & I were sitting at the table in the kitchen working on Sudoku puzzles while Meilyr, Niamh and Lewis hung out on the beanbag & inflatable couch. Just the way that the two of them were sitting on the couch and the way they talked to each other.. I dunno. Maybe they’re just really good friends. Maybe not.. But they’re already talking about moving in together next year. Well, Lewis brought up the fact that next year we should move in together because we all get along so well. Plus it’d help with the whole buying stuff for our dining/lounge area. We wouldn’t have to split it all up at the end of the year. God.. they’re thinking of buying a dart board. That will so mess up the wall! Especially if someone decides to throw darts when they’re drunk. Unless they get adequate protection for the wall, like a huge board of.. what was it Lewis said? MDF?? Anyway.. I’m a bit iffy about the pool table as well.. But the idea of having a movie night in that room is quite cool. Really comfy couches, beanbags, etc.. Just set up a laptop and watch DVDs on it.. The screen might be too small though. Especially if there’s a huge bunch of us watching it.

Okay, I should go.. need to shower and stuff before I go to sleep. Especially because I gotta get up early! I miss my late mornings.. ;_;

So strange.. I’m reading Anne Rice’s The Tale of the Body Thief and guess what it’s got one of the Talamasca guys reading. Goethe’s Faust. Which is basically the same as the play that we’re studying & dissecting every Thursday afternoon. The endings are different though. Goethe has Faust going to heaven while in the play Dr. Faustus winds up in hell. I haven’t gotten too far in the book yet, but hopefully it’ll tell me a bit more about Faust so I could use it in my essay about Dr. Faustus..

Just an interesting little tidbit I thought I’d point out.

And I had a strange dream. I was at the train station and I kept forgetting really important things in my room. Like my train tickets and clothes. So I called my mom and she sent my uncle over to bring them to me. His was a lot longer, thicker & curlier.. But otherwise the same guy I saw.. erm.. well, it’s been awhile. ^-^ Then I missed the train even though I was on the platform! Ridiculous really..
